You interviewed the world’s best video game designers (Well, at least some of you did!)

Brief Q&As with the makers of Astro Bot, Batman: Arkham Shadows, Helldivers 2 and more. The questions almost all came from Game File readers.

Thirteen years ago, I played tic-tac-toe with 10 award-winning video game designers (and one journalist). I found each of them backstage at an awards show, where other members of the press were asking questions about how it felt to win awards.

I wanted to do something different, to get their thoughts on one of the best-known games in the world.

Since then, I’ve been backstage at a lot of gaming awards shows, and I always try to have a fun interview gimmick.

Earlier this month, at the AIAS Awards in Las Vegas, I decided (very last minute) that the gimmick would be: Game File readers get to ask each award-winner a question.

As the creative folks behind Astro Bot, Indiana Jones, Helldivers 2 and other games accepted their trophies on stage and then came backstage to answer questions from the media, I hopped into Game File’s chatroom and asked for questions.

There wasn’t a lot of time, and I should have given readers more notice, but we still got some good stuff. As you’ll see, readers like you….

  • Asked the chief creative officer of Arrowhead what he would change in Helldivers 2….

  • Asked voice actor Troy Baker about his hardest role…

  • Asked the head of Team Asobi to define his studio’s journey in just one word…

  • Asked the head of PR behind Balatro how they got the press to care about the game…

  • Asked an executive involved with Tekken about Waffle House…

And more. Plus, I tossed in a few questions of my own.

Shall we?
