EA isn't making The Sims 5, as it 'disrupts the sequel model'

Electronic Arts is not planning to develop The Sims 5 and will instead continue to support and expand The Sims 4, which was released in September 2014, the company said today.
“We are going to disrupt the sequel model,” EA’s president of entertainment and tech, Laura Miele, told an audience at the company’s investor day in New York City today.
It was the perfect day for a video game company to announce that it was not making a sequel in an iconic franchise.
And it wasn’t the only major announcement from EA that offered intrigue about what the company was talking about—and what it was not.
