Kamala Harris’ weird video game cameo
Is that really her in one of the most acclaimed games of 2019?
From time to time, when a politician crosses a new threshold of prominence, I check to see if they’ve ever had much to do with the beat I cover for a living.
It’s not that anyone should care all that much what a Senator, Prime Minister or President has ever said about video games. But you never know when you’re going to stumble upon an illuminating detail.
Maybe they turn out to be a microtransaction whale. Perhaps they like to gift copies of The Witcher.
Or, in the case of Googling “Kamala Harris” and “video games,” you just might get the following third-ranked result: “Kamala Harris apparently exists as a different person in the Control universe.”
Oh?
We’re talking about Control, 2019’s well-reviewed third-person government/sci-fi thriller by elite Finnish development studio Remedy Entertainment? A game from the makers of last year’s much-lauded Alan Wake 2, which is part of a broader connected universe that ties into Control?
She’s in that??
