My kids’ favorite games of 2024, so far

We tried a bunch of Switch games this year, not all of them brand new. Not everything was a success.

In my household, the 2024 gaming year is not going as expected.

Our twins, now 7 ½, are playing video games less than they did a year ago.

Distractions abound. My son loves to watch baseball on TV and - gasp - go outside.

My daughter is content to twirl through the house singing or go climb trees. If her brother is watching the Mets again, she’ll check out a Disney show on the iPad.

But something else is also changing, which I should have seen coming: They’re losing interest in the games I recommend and drifting to ones I don’t care much about.  

It’s been nearly two years since I revealed to them that one of the gadgets near the TV plays video games. And we are now, I think, in the fourth phase of their gaming lives.
