Nintendo puts more women in charge in Japan, but is not chasing a 'specific target'
A newly disclosed increase in female managers comes after a push from the country's government.
Nintendo is reporting its first uptick of women in management roles in its offices in Japan since it began publicly reporting that data in 2021, according to the company’s latest annual report.
It’s another sign, however faint, that the gaming heavyweight behind Mario, Zelda, Splatoon is trying, with a nudge from its home country’s government, to grant more power to women in a firm long dominated by men.
