When they showed me that footage at GDC, I mentioned that I worked at the MTV sister channel Vh1 a long time ago and that, while working on documentaries there, we'd often need to license music from companies that specialized in making songs that sound almost like very famous hits but are just different enough to not cause a legal issue. The music for that world certainly reminded me of that concept!
