Wow! Thanks for giving Shujinkou a chance ❤️. Director here, just honored that you gave it a chance even if it ended up not being for you!

If you enjoyed DOOM 2016 and Eternal wasn’t your speed I would recommend sticking with The Dark Ages especially beyond the first chapter.

Thanks. Is it an interesting world to explore? Ahead of release, the developers made it sound like there'd be more to discover by poking around in the world's nooks and crannies. Which doesn't sound like Doom, but does sound like the kind of games I like.

i would also highly recommend the book - ‘Doom: Life in First Person’ by John Romero.

Great audiobook, too. Having an eidetic memory, that kind of life story and that warm a voice... Can't recommend it enough. It's long though... 😄

this list is awesome! i got my first platinum trophy from ghost of yotei this year….thoroughly enjoyed it more than ghost of tsushima actually. death stranding is easy to get sucked into….also, thronglets? that game consumed my life in a very unhealthy way.

I realise it's your job, but I'm still very impressed by the size of this list! I'm flat out getting through 5 or 6 games in a year.

I would (if you have the time, of course) give KCD2 a try this year. It's the best RPG game that i've played, and one of the best and most enjoyable games i've ever played.

Nice to hear a respected video game journalist doesn’t just auto-hate a Ubisoft game because it’s what all the cool kids are doing. A lot of people missed 3 outstanding open world games over the last few years, assuming they’re just Ubisoft open world formulaic games.

But Avatar, Outlaws and Shadows all bring something new to the genre, especially the first two.
